Description

On August 10th of the year 2010 the Holy Empire of Britannia began a campaign of conquest, its sights set on Japan. Operations were completed in one month thanks to Britannia's deployment of new mobile humanoid armor vehicles dubbed Knightmare Frames. Japan's rights and identity were stripped away, the once proud nation now referred to as Area 11. Its citizens, Elevens, are forced to scratch out a living while the Britannian aristocracy lives comfortably within their settlements. Pockets of resistance appear throughout Area 11, working towards independence for Japan.

Lelouch, an exiled Imperial Prince of Britannia posing as a student, finds himself in the heart of the ongoing conflict for the island nation. Through a chance meeting with a mysterious girl named C.C., Lelouch gains his Geass, the power of the king. Now endowed with absolute dominance over any person, Lelouch may finally realize his goal of bringing down Britannia from within!

Awesome Anime

Overall Score: 9.4

I, Lovabelle command you to read this entire review. This anime is my top favourite anime in my list of favourite animes. It is in two seasons. Flashing back, I was this close to not watching this anime and this close to not meeting my one true anime-love. Why? Because there was mecha element in it, and I never really liked mecha. So I'm really thankful that I gave this a go. I worship my boredom - if it wasn't because of it, I would not have watched this. I also realized that only those who have seen it may be the only ones who can tell how sane my euphoric state of mind is right now. The storyline may appear to be a cliche but it is handled in a different kind of refreshing way that quickly draws the viewer's attention. Lelouch gains a unique power(the power of absolute obedience), upon his encounter with a mysterious witch, C.C., and then creates his masked alter-ego, 'Zero'. The pace of the anime is neither rushed or slow-paced boring. There are twists and turns and conflicts that will leave you cliff hanging in almost every episode. For another thing, the end of each episode is always left unexplained, thus making you eager to watch the next one. The characters are rather varied. Some are simple and one-dimensional and some are far-fetched with unique complexity. Lelouch, the protagonist is just interesting. He has my admiration and while watching the anime, I have also become somewhat infatuated with Lelouch as a character. He is incredibly intelligent with unique point of views, and very humane. C.C., an immortal that has the ability to bestow people with the power of Geass, which and where manifests differently in each person but generally carries the ability to affect the minds of people. She's become a detached and lonely individual over the decades, with little care for those she has entered into contracts with. Suzaku also falls in the line of character complexity, with his great sense of justice, and his abnormal physical powers. It was pretty hard for me to accept Suzaku at the beginning because he keeps beaming up as Lelouch main obstacle, but slowly and over time through the series, he is pretty fasinating. The animation is incredible, and the character designs by CLAMP are drawn beautifully. As for the voice acting, both Japanese and English dub are well done. Both versions' dialouges are delivered expertly with realism. Although, I personally am not pleased with Nunnally's high pitched English dubbed voice. The Japanese version is so very awesome, and the English dubbed one is awesome. As a whole, Code Geass is definitely the one of the best mecha and psychological anime out there. SUNRISE did an awesome job, and pulled an effectively entertaining anime. Like the toppings on a pizza, you just cry for more. It's a funny yet emotional, deep-characters, superb-animation, top-notch-action, crafty-storyline, over-the-edge-conflict, all in one anime. It is a rare gripping one. I highly HIGHLY recommend this. You won't be disappointed.

Better than most..

At first, the seemed to me to have a mass produced story making, like one enemy -> gets defeated -> another one gets added. BUT, this was not the case, after watching more and more episodes, you find out it is indeed a whole story, where everything the main character does makes an impact in future episodes. <- this is why i give the anime a story score of 9. The animation score is highly based on my own personal opinions, i didn't really like the looks of the characters, although a very small amount of characters in the anime looks decent. Other than this, the anime got smooth animations. Other than that the animations looks smooth and enjoyable. <- This is why i give the anime, a animation score of 7. The anime got one of the best characters iv'e seen so far in anime, they can change on a major scale in no time, but every time a person changes, there is always a good reason for the person to do so. Those you might think of an none-important character, might once have a major role in the future story, and those you would think of important characters, might become none-important. <- This is why i give the character score a 9. I didn't notice anything special about the music, but it did indeed match the different situations. <- this is why i give the sound score a 5. All in all this is a great story, and i can highly recommend others to watch it too, although this is mostly recommended based on the story and characters.... the rest is completely normal and doesn't stand out too much. <- this is why i give Code Geass an Enjoyment score of 8.
