Wow, High School DXD was actually a farily amazing anime! Aside from all of the ecchi moments, it could be taking from High School of the Dead, it could have been better though. The story was pretty good, the only thing that got me weirded out was that when the main character died, he was reincarnated into a devil.
Basically High School DXD is about Devils vs. Fallen Angels. Fun Fact - A Fallen Angel killed the main character, after asking him out on a date. The sound is pretty good, My enjoyment could have been better if it weren't for all of the nakedness, the animation score has too be a 10, story score has too be an 8.
That's all i'm going too get into right now, at the very least...
At first, the seemed to me to have a mass produced story making, like one enemy -> gets defeated -> another one gets added. BUT, this was not the case, after watching more and more episodes, you find out it is indeed a whole story, where everything the main character does makes an impact in future episodes. <- this is why i give the anime a story score of 9.
The animation score is highly based on my own personal opinions, i didn't really like the looks of the characters, although a very small amount of characters in the anime looks decent. Other than this, the anime got smooth animations. Other than that the animations looks smooth and enjoyable. <- This is why i give the anime, a animation score of 7.
The anime got one of the best characters iv'e seen so far in anime, they can change on a major scale in no time, but every time a person changes, there is always a good reason for the person to do so. Those you might think of an none-important character, might once have a major role in the future story, and those you would think of important characters, might become none-important. <- This is why i give the character score a 9.
I didn't notice anything special about the music, but it did indeed match the different situations. <- this is why i give the sound score a 5.
All in all this is a great story, and i can highly recommend others to watch it too, although this is mostly recommended based on the story and characters.... the rest is completely normal and doesn't stand out too much. <- this is why i give Code Geass an Enjoyment score of 8.
Naruto, yes Naruto. One of the series that has defined the cultural shonen’s of the last generation in the history of anime. This is a series that has changed significantly over the past decade.
What I love bout naruto is the whole “Ninja aspect” of the show. Every technique had substance, quality and all of the training arcs really shown the defining elements of how ninjutsu worked within the naruto universe. These qualities are something I will soon not forget. I know alot of people complain about naruto being a half ass wit that can’t do nothing Or perhaps sakura being useless. But in away I look at the series as being a little different, especially in the developing of characters.
Kishimoto did not intend to create the story with a “bad ass” character right from the start, toppling villains one after the other, no. Naruto was set up in a way that much resembles an ordinary life and the tribulations and tests you must go through. Death is at every corner and naruto is a kid that is trying to fit in with the rest of the shinobi and be "recognized" I think that was one of the main defining elements of the original series. Kishi wanted to show here is a character that no one likes because he has a living breathing monster inside of him. You can only wonder what he is thinking, being in his predicament.
Watching him grow up as a monster and trying to be known as a famous shinobi and protect his friends, but realizing that he is in a world fraught with danger at every corner. Watching his friends die before him or getting hurt. The degree of emotion in the series was something I really enjoyed. It was really powerful. I remember hearing people spout nonsense in the discussions boards "omg to much drama, get on with the fighting already" But I actually liked how naruto had that drama, it fit in with the entire theme of the series. It kind of brings a whole different realism to the show compared to other shonen series. I won’t state any names.
One of the things that kishi really focused on in the original was friendship, and bonds. Thats one of the major theme's watching this team 7 grow up together, learning from kakashi and becoming great ninja in the process, learning the ways of the ninja world. This show explores themes of revenge, hate, bonds and sorrow to a very astounding degree.
The characters in this series were in every sense of the word children, growing up in a world full of adults that were much more talented ninja's both skills and combat. That is not to say the show was made for children. Just that kishi wanted to show the younger generation as the main characters of the show and the older generation as the training shinobi. They had to learn the ropes of what being a ninja is like. After their pre training sessions, they were finally put to the test of just how grueling the world is and how they must use every ounce of there being to survive and also protect the people they love.
10 years ago people viewed naruto very different to how people view it today.
Perhaps maybe the reason I love naruto so much and the reason it feels very nostalgic to me, is because I was around when I watched it first aired and I remember the fanbase during that time of the original series. It was one of THEE most popular anime series on the net and not a single person had anything remotely unscrupulous to say about it. Suddenly after the 100 episode filler arc, or the not so appreciated “shipuuden” it lost its reputation and became a show just muddled by idiots that call any one narutards for watching it. I have seen how the fanbase has changed significantly over the past 10 years of watching naruto. It is quite sad really.
I still consider naruto to be one of my favorite quality anime series, regardless of where it’s going. Perhaps maybe its because im very infatuated with ninja's and like the unique way that kishi has created this ninja world. Similar to how i really love pirates in the one piece world. Every arc is something new and fresh so kishi can develop on that and expand upon the show in various different ways. One piece had some of the greatest character back stories and cast I’ve seen in a series, but it did suffer from story progression a bit thankfully naruto does not. It has a pretty solid pace and some of the most ground breaking plot twists.
I guess it’s all a matter of personal preference and what you like to see in a show. I my self im not a huge fan of typical shonene tropes that are used consistently, but i love how the original series gave us a much more powerful emotional impact to the show. In away it felt more humanized as apposed to the more generic super power elements of shipuuden.
I am a big anime fan and I have to say that Naruto: Shippuuden is one of my absolute all time favourites. There are probably so many people that would disagree with me and tell me that Naruto and Naruto: Shippuuden are a waste of time and that the story is a bunch of fillers put together. I strongly disagree and will tell you all why with this review of mine.
First of all, the biggest difference between Naruto and Shippuuden is the darker tone, the maturity and the depth in Shippuuden. In Naruto, the whole series was about him wanting to become the Hokage, being clumsy and always working hard to become better than Sasuke.
I loved Naruto's dorkiness but in Shippuuden he becomes serious. The series as well. Now the friendship and loyalty takes over. The mysteries get their answers and new questions take form.
Akatsuki, the moon plan, Madara, war... the thrilling surprises, the horrifying reveals, the cliffhangers... these things are what makes Shippuuden one of the best animes I know. It keeps you on the tip of your toes. That's why the story itself gets a 10/10 from me. Story (10/10)
Of course the art is much better than Naruto. Shippuuden has much more attention for details, the characters' outfits are much more well done, the colouring and effects are so much better done. The landscapes are beautifully drawn. Fighting scenes and emotional scenes are something I've noticed myself are paid much more attention to. The realistic feeling is all over Shippuuden. Great! Art (9/10)
To be honest, I prefer not to notice the sound at all. Sound in movies, series etc shouldn't be noticed. The music is there to strenghten the mood. And since I don't notice the sound and it makes me feel what I'm supposed to feel, I guess the sound is well picked. I really liked the piano pieces in Naruo. Grief and Sorrow is an extraordinary piece. But I especially enjoyed the Pain soundtrack with the choirs and dark pipe organs in Shippuuden. Sound (8/10)
In Naruto and Shippuuden, Kishimoto is very focused in telling all characters stories. All characters have their backgounds and special personality. They all feel like real people that you know and they all grow throughout the series. You follow their changes. And that's whats so great and important about a series that is this long. The character development. (10/10)
So, to justify and defend Shippuuden...
First of all, you have to understand the use of fillers. With an anime this long the writer can't keep up with the pace. For every episode they use about 2-3 chapters of the manga. When the anime has reached too far, they have to buy time for the writer to write more. Or, they could make it like many other animes... Make up another story and end for it. But that wouldn't make anyone happy. Please, stop going on and on about the fillers. They are there for a very good reason.
Naruto goes from a clumsy kid who only wishes to become the Hokage, to a serious, hardworking, loyal friend who doesn't only want to save his friend, but also the whole ninja world from the neverending cycle of hate and despair. I enjoy the series extremely much and I hope that you do too. ^^
I know this isn't really a correct recomendation but... Well, both of these anime have at least one incredibly annoying-voiced girl, the one that I can point out in "Myself;Yourself", is Aoi-Chan. SHE IS SOOOOOO ANNOYING!
Anyways, have fun! ^_^
